The III Workshop of the Climate Resilience International Research Network - RIPERC, organized by the Center for Teaching, Research and Extension in Protection and Disasters - CEPED/Unioeste/Brazil and the Stricto Sensu Graduate Program in Sustainable Rural Development at the State University of West Paraná/Brazil, will be carried out entirely online, on November 17, 18 and 19, 2021.
The central theme of the event will be "Climate crisis and pandemic: global transformations and local impacts". This third edition intends to discuss the issue of climate resilience in a transboundary scope, as well as to stimulate new discussions to strengthen conceptual, theoretical, and methodological actions and proposals for socio-environmental sustainability, justice, and social commitment.
The submissions should be in an EXTENDED ABSTRACT format. Participants will be able to present their work orally, and in case of approval by reviewers, they will be published in the annals of the event.
Contributions from all themes of environmental resilience and sustainability will be accepted (not limited to the theme of the pandemic).
Below you will find the template available for download with all the guidelines for authors.
The submitted papers must be classified in one of the following thematic topics, as indicated by the author:
i) Environment, ecosystems and their dynamics: The ecosystem is a dynamic complex of biotic and abiotic components characterized by stability and instability, permanence and movement, contrasting and complementary conceptions that lead to the discussion of the evolution of processes throughout history. Work focused on the environment, ecosystems, and their dynamics will be received in Topic 1.
ii) Environmental education, climate emergency, public policies, and society: In face of recurring crises and environmental impacts, joint and targeted actions are essential to reduce and reverse the damage caused by these events and bring to light society's dilemmas that must be faced. In order to address this issue, Topic 2 will receive contributions in the areas of environmental education, climate emergency, public policies and society.
iii) Innovation, infrastructure, and technologies from the perspective of socio-environmental issues: Different strategies have been widely studied to meet the demands without compromising the environment, society and the economy. From this perspective, Topic 3 addresses works in the areas of innovation, infrastructure and technologies from the perspective of socio-environmental issues.
iv) Sustainability, territorial development, solidarity, circular and inclusive economy: The current model of linearity in the production chain does not match current needs. It is urgent to rethink the systems from the perspectives of sustainability, territorial development, solidarity, circular and inclusive economy – themes addressed in the fourth topic of the workshop.
